Prevention of Human Trafficking and Care for Women Victims
Objective: To train, sensitize, and raise awareness among State institutions, non-governmental organizations, and civil society in the different regions of Costa Rica on the issue of sexual exploitation.
Target Population: State institutions, non-governmental organizations, and regional-level civil society.
Methodology
The following tools are used:
- Workshops
- Participatory presentations.
- Working groups: Comprised of representatives from different organizations and institutions. The discussion will be based on 5 thematic areas and key topics.
- Sensitization campaign.
- Information stand.
During the awareness and sensitization sessions, the following components are analyzed:
- Prevention: Sexual exploitation and human trafficking prevention strategies adapted to each region.
- Sanction: Analysis of the Costa Rican legal framework.
- Protection: Efficient protection mechanisms for victims and personnel working on the issue.
- Care: Comprehensive care model for victims: Vulnerability factors leading to sexual exploitation, Male prostitution, Sexual exploitation of minors, Human trafficking for sexual exploitation purposes, Prevention of STIs/HIV/AIDS, Addiction to drugs and alcohol as a result of sexual exploitation, Networking to address the problem—the regional challenge.
- Cooperation: Define coordination lines for data exchange, training, victim care, reporting, follow-up, joint operations, among others.
